In the Greek cuisine the list of pies is endless. Any kind of ingredient can become a pie, plus every region in the country has its own way of making pies. We are a nation that adores pies! No doubt about that!
Corfu is one of the most beautiful islands of Greece, situated in the Ionian Sea, on the North West part of Greece. Due to historical and geographical facts its cuisine has had fewer influences from the East –in contrast to other parts of the country- and more from the West, mainly Italy.

This year, Greek Orthodox Easter is on May 1st, right in the heart of spring! It’s the best time, weather wise that is, to celebrate a feast in which the Greeks are so much dedicated. Which means, that yes, Easter is the Greeks’ favorite religious day!
Today is our National Day of Independence. We celebrate the revolution against the Ottoman Empire, under which our country was occupied for almost 400 years. The revolution of 1821 led to the establishment of the new, independent country of Greece.
