Greek tomato soup with meat

Undoubtedly the best way to cope with the severe weather conditions of this winter is to make soups. Plenty of soups! We hope that you agree because today, on our new post we’re cooking a wonderful soup  that will make you feel cozier and warmer.

Tomato soup with meat


Yields 4


½ kilo beef meat cut into 2 cm cubes

1 large white onion, finely chopped

1 carrot, chopped

2 medium potatoes peeled and cubed

3 cups vegetable or beef broth

1/3 cup esti extra virgin olive oil

1 teaspoon paprika

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 bay leave

1 can crushed tomato

2 tablespoons tomato paste



In a large cooking pot heat the olive oil. Add the onion and sauté until it softens and becomes translucent. Add meat and sauté well until it is browned on all sides.

Add in carrots and potatoes, broth, crushed tomatoes, paste, paprika, cayenne pepper and bay leaves .

Cover and simmer for at least an hour until the meat is tender and vegetables have been cooked very well.

Discard bay leaves and adjust seasoning.

Serve hot.
